Food science majors, chefs, culinary and health service personnel, as well as the general public are welcome to join Lucy or bring your own group, from 8 to 12 attendees for these special weeks.

This is a tentative program that may vary due to weather or unforeseen events. Dates of activities may change but all efforts will be made to fulfill all programmed events. Olive oil making days and truffle hunts with the dogs, take place only during their season. 

Sunday:  Cocktails and dinner at Villa Lucia while discussing Italian cuisine, emphasizing the cuisine of Tuscany along with the events of the week.

Monday:  Guided tour of outdoor farmer’s market when attendees will suggest items they wish purchased to cook during the week.  Lunch at the Villa, will be followed by a cooking class of items purchased at the market and used to prepare the evening dinner. 

Tuesday: . A discussion of our olive oil production at breakfast followed by a walk through the olive grove when trees and types of olives will be discussed. Possibly at this time there will be an opportunity to watch the pickers in the fields. Lunch served at Villa Lucia will be accompanied by and olive oil tasting. Dinner at the Villa or an experience out at a trattoria. 

Wednesday:  Bus trip to Modena (about 2 hours) to see the production of parmigiano, prosciutto, and the balsamic condiment.  Lunch at an agriturismo when the local ingredients will be used, to be followed, if time permits, with a visit to the Ferrari museum and or a small tour of Modena. Attendees will return to Villa Lucia for a light evening meal. 

Thursday. A day program devoted to olive oil. Villa Lucia olives will be brought to the mill at a scheduled time where attendees will be able to view the making of our liquid gold. Attendees will take part in preparing a rustic Tuscany country lunch or dinner with the freshly pressed oil at Villa Lucia or have dinner at the mill with the freshly pressed oil which will depend on mill schedule. 

Friday:  Hunting for the wild white truffle with the truffle hounds will take place if weather and conditions are favorable.  Lunch at the hunt location or at a local restaurant, specializing in truffles.

Afternoon free to rest, have a spa treatment, go shopping, sightseeing and or dinner out.

 Saturday: Departure day after breakfast 

Our week seminar is 1950.00 euros pp double occupancy: lodging, 6 breakfasts, 5 lunches, 5 dinners, tours, cooking classes, artisan visits, transportation to scheduled activities, Italian taxes.
