Cooking Classes at Villa Lucia 2019
Olive Oil & Artisan Weeks
This is a tentative program. Schedule may vary due to weather or unforeseen events but every effort will be made to fulfill all program activities.
Olive oil making days take place only during late October and early November. Truffle hunts depend on the weather.
Sunday: Cocktails and dinner at Villa Lucia while discussing Italian cuisine, emphasizing the cuisine of Tuscany, along with the events of the week.
Monday: Guided tour of outdoor farmers’ market, where guests can select items they wish to cook during the week. Lunch at the Villa will be followed by a cooking class of items purchased at the market, and used to prepare dinner.
Tuesday: Visit to the Da Vinci museum (Leonardo’s birthplace) and an artisan ceramic factory where traditionally rustic, old world Tuscan cuisine will be served. After lunch, we return to Villa Lucia for a cooking class and the preparation of the evening meal.
Wednesday: Bus trip to Modena (about 2 hours) to watch the creation of parmigiano, prosciutto, and the balsamic condiment. Lunch at an agriturismo, where only local ingredients will be used. If time permits, our outing ends with a visit to the Ferrari museum and/or a small tour of Modena. Guests will return to Villa Lucia for a light evening meal.
Thursday: A lesson on the pressing of the olives from the pickers in the fields will be followed with lunch, serving our freshly pressed liquid gold in various dishes. Villa Lucia olives will be brought to the mill at a scheduled time, at which guests will be able to observe the creation of our certified organic extra virgin olive oil. All are welcome to take part in preparing a rustic Tuscan country dinner with the freshly pressed oil.
Friday: Hunting for the wild white truffle with the truffle hounds will take place if weather and conditions are favorable. Lunch in a local restaurant, specializing in truffle dishes, will be followed by a return to Villa Lucia for a cooking class using the bountiful collection from the morning hunt.
Saturday: Departure after breakfast, for those not wishing to stay longer for a B&B program.
COST: Our cooking week is 1900 euros per person, and includes 6 nights lodging, breakfasts, 5 lunches, 5 dinners, artisan visits, cooking classes and transportation to scheduled programs.
Daily courses can be scheduled to meet the needs of individuals or groups.
